HELLO FROM OUR DEPUTIES

IVAN SESKIS (Deputy Principal - Teaching & Learning)
Welcome to the 2026 academic year at BHCS!
There is a unique energy that comes with the start of a school year. It is a time of fresh starts and new possibilities.
Have you ever wondered what actually happens inside a student's mind when the proverbial 'lightbulb' goes on? Neuroscience tells us that learning is a physical process, a rewiring of connections in our brain that happens most effectively when we are challenged. Brains are like muscles. Every time we learn something difficult or make a mistake and correct it, our brain physically changes, making new connections and growing stronger. At BHCS we encourage students to embrace the 'struggle' of new concepts, skills, and experiences, to have a growth mindset that shifts thinking from 'I’m not good at this' to 'I’m not good at this yet,' fostering a culture where mistakes are viewed not as failures, but as essential learning points.
Learning isn’t a spectator sport; it happens when we ask questions, embrace challenges, and give things a go. This year, I want to challenge all our students to be active participants in their own learning. Whether it is in the classroom, on an excursion, at camp, or through our extracurricular programs, I encourage every student to actively get involved.
As always, we deeply value our partnership with parents. Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue on this learning journey together.
VICKY FRAANJE (Deputy Principal - People, Wellbeing & Daily Operations)
As we begin 2026, I’m filled with gratitude and anticipation for all that lies ahead at our school. I hope you and your family have enjoyed a restful break and are ready for another year of learning, growth, and connection within our BHCS community.
This year, our staff continue to build on the strong foundations of care and excellence that define our school. We’re delighted to welcome Ms Jennifer Holloway, Mrs Anne Matheson, Mrs Candice Anderson and Mr Dimitri Willenberg into our teaching team and extend a warm welcome back to Mrs Natalie Foster.
Each brings a unique experience and a heart for nurturing the God-given potential in every student. We also welcome several new learning assistants, including McKenzie Morrow, Kate Tsakissiris, Freya Rushton-Smith.
In my ongoing role overseeing Student Learning Support and Wellbeing, I look forward to partnering with families and engaging with students as they navigate the year ahead. May this new school year be one of joy, perseverance, and purpose as we journey together in faith and community.
