KENDALL CUP & LUMSDEN CUP GIRLS AFL

KENDALL CUP

On the 16th May, our Kendall Cup Open Girls AFL team played in the one day carnival at McPherson Oval in North Wagga. The team played four games on the day, winning all four and placing first for the carnival. This meant we then had to play MDCC in the Kendall Cup Grand Final on 29th May at Robertson Oval. In a tough game it was MDCC that were victorious with a three goal final quarter setting them up for the win for the inaugural Kendall Cup. The cup is named in honour of all of the hard work and efforts of our own Mrs Cherrie Kendall in fostering the opportunity for our girls to play and compete in AFL in our schools.

All girls further developed their skills in the game and we thank our amazing coach, Mrs Kendall and also a big thanks to our support team that helped with running messages, running water and goal umpiring.

A day where all of the secondary Grand Final matches were played between KCC and MDCC.

Tracey Gunson Netball Grand Final

This past Tuesday, June 11th, our netball teams competed in the Tracey Gunson Shield Grand Finals! While the rain forced us to move the games indoors at the Equex Stadium, the competition was fierce and the support from our Kildare community was awesome!

Open Team

Our Open team came out swinging, defeating TRAC in their opening round game. They then displayed impressive teamwork, drawing against a strong Mater Dei side. The girls faced a tough battle in the semi finals against Kooringal High, but their determination shone through as they secured a 37–22 victory.

Reaching the grand final against Mater Dei again, the Open team put up a valiant fight in a close first half. Despite their hard work, Mater Dei ultimately proved too strong, winning the final 44–36.

Year 7/8 Team

Year 7/8 Team - Chloe Hartas, Asha Creek, Imogen Inglis, Lulu Rynehart, Zara Connelly, Sophia Day, Phoebe Dyce, Millie Drum, Elle Hewitt. Coach - Jacqui Sharp

Playing in Pool B, our Year 7/8 team dominated their round robin matches, defeating Wagga Wagga Christian College (48–12) and Wagga High (31–8). Similar to the Open team, they faced TRAC in the semi finals and emerged victorious with a 34–25 score.

Facing Mater Dei in the finals, the Year 7/8 girls displayed incredible grit and determination, pushing Mater Dei all the way. While they ultimately fell short by a score of 33–24, their spirit and dedication throughout the tournament were truly inspiring!

We are incredibly proud of both our Open and Year 7/8 netball teams for their outstanding performance at the Tracey Gunson Shield. A big thank you to the staff, students and families for their support! A big thank you to Mr Timothy Bacon (PDHPE teacher) and Amanda McLachlan for umpiring for us throughout the competition. Thanks to Mrs Sharon Forwood (HSIE teacher) and Mrs Jacqueline Sharp (Learning Support teacher) for coaching.
