Careers

Our students have been very fortunate to be able to participate in many careers related events this year. Listed below are just a few examples

  • Made for a Trade
  • Girls can Too
  • Trade Readiness–Carpenter
  • Trade Readiness–Metals
  • TAFE Hairdressing & Beauty program
  • PCYC Program–Free White Card and First Aid Training
  • Health Heroes 4 day program
  • Wagga Base Hospital Allied Health Experience
  • Defence Force Talks
  • University Visits–CSU, University of Canberra
  • University Talks–CSU, U Sydney etc

I regularly get emails and phone calls from parents asking why their child has missed out on these events.

As has been communicated many times this year, all events are advertised in the year group specific Careers Classrooms. It is the responsibility of the student to act on any information I put in the Classroom. Please ensure that you have joined the relevant Classroom so you do not miss out on any future opportunities. You can find codes below.

In many cases there are limits on the number of students who can participate. When this is the case, it is made very clear how spots will be allocated.

For example it may be preference is given to:

  • First in first served
  • A certain year group
  • Students who have had a meeting with me and discussed what their plans are post school
  • Students who have not participated in certain activities previously

See Classroom for details and to register

  • Made for a Trade
  • Forge a Career in Metals & Manufacturing
  • University of Sydney Talk
  •  Comment start Ag Tech – Career Taster Program
  • Aviation Careers – Will be in Classroom in Week 9
  • Defence Talk – Not in Classroom yet but will be as soon I receive confirmation

Every Wednesday morning I will be in the Staff Lunchroom during Coaching to answer any questions about Work Experience. It is also a good time for you to come and hand in any Work Experience paperwork. Go to Homegroup, get marked off, and then head over.

Here are the links to the Careers/TaP Classrooms for all new students and those who have for some reason not already joined. Please join NOW.

Your Classroom is where I will share any upcoming events or courses that you may be interested in. Often these events have limited spaces available and require an EOI so it is important that you make sure you are reading notifications.

Parents are also able to join as Guardians. If you would like to join the Careers Classroom of your child, please email kcc-careers@ww.catholic.edu.au and state your child's name and year group and that you would like to join the Careers Classroom.

This will be the main platform used for our Careers notices and activities.
