Reconciliation Week

Last week was Reconciliation Week. At Westgrove we acknowledge this across the school and the community with a range of activities and events, including:

  • Daily updates/information via Class Dojo
  • Indigenous bell music
  • Class lessons focused on Indigenous mentor texts.
  • Story time in the Indigenous garden during breaks
  • A community event after school
  • “Sea of Hands” installation
  • Student Indigenous group activity & art

Thanks to the team of staff who facilitated all of these activities as leaders of the Indigenous Group – Genn Collier, Teresa Wallen and Kristy Gibbons.

Semester Reports

Semester reports are currently being written for all students by their classroom and specialist teachers. These reports will outline how your child is progressing socially and academically and their attributes as a learner and member of our community. Reports will go 'live' to families via Compass in the last week of this term. Parent/ Carer Teacher Interviews will then occur early next term.

School Uniform

As you may be aware, we are currently having a blitz on students wearing the correct school uniform. Since doing so we have noticed more and more students in the correct uniform. Thank you to our families for supporting us by ensuring your child/ren have the correct pieces of uniform.

If you require any assistance with uniforms for your children, we are here to assist. Please simply contact the school office where various supports can be offered.

2025 Enrolments

Enrolments for any child looking to start Prep (or any year level) in 2025, are continuing to be accepted so please contact the office to commence this process.

We are still holding regular school tours, so if you or anybody you know would like to attend one please register by contacting our office. These tours are available for all prospective families.

Supervision of Students before and after school

Student safety at Westgrove Primary School is our highest priority and the safe and appropriate supervision of students is an important element of our duty of care to students. Part of this duty is ensuring parents and students are aware of our student supervision arrangements before and after school.

  • Before school: School gates open at 8.45am and grounds are supervised from this time. Unless involved in an extra-curricular program students are unable to access the school grounds prior to 8.45am.
  • After school: School grounds are supervised until 3.30pm.

Students on school grounds outside these times will not be supervised (unless they are attending a before or after school care program or supervised extracurricular activity).

Parents/carers are requested to ensure that students do not attend school outside of these supervised times unless they are attending before or after school care, or a pre-arranged supervised activity (i.e. sports practice).

Families are encouraged to contact Quantin Binnah Community Centre for more information about the before and after school care facilities available to our school community.

For a copy of our school’s Yard Duty and Supervision Policy please refer to our website or contact the office.  This policy includes Westgrove Primary School’s student supervision arrangements across the school day, including before and after school.

Shade Structure Delay

Unfortunately there has been a delay with the installation of our shade structure. With the end of term fast approaching the decision has been made to wait for the school holidays to install the structure so the company has the opportunity to work more flexibly around the weather and the daily operation of the school will not be impacted.
