Principal's News
Dear families,
Yet again I am writing to you on the back of another event where Yanco students shone as they represented our school community with pride. Benji, Taya, Larna and Dante travelled to Albury to participate in the Riverina Athletics Carnival. Although they did not progress to the next round. They left nothing behind when participating in the relay event against other small schools. Taya also left with a personal best in her discus. Thank you to everyone including families who helped get each of our amazing representatives to this event.
Hair Friends (head lice)
Hi, it is a new season and time for everyone to check for those unwanted friends that love to hang out in hair. It is easier for us all to keep on top of them when we work together.
Hats
Time to go hunting for school hats. Students have all been reminded that we will be moving to a straighter hat policy now that the season has changed.
STEM
Selected students in Years 4 and 5 will be getting a note about the potential to represent the school in two STEM challenges. These are the Bottle Rocket Challenge and the First Lego League. Both of these provide opportunities to develop teamwork and build on technical skills through the fields of aeronautics and robotics. Miss Jeffs is excited to be leading these teams as well as supporting those students in Stage 3 who are part of the STEM academy.
Arts
There are some amazing artworks coming into school for entry into the Leeton Show later this year. Please keep working on these and remember to ask for support if you do not have the materials needed. We are doing some work in school but can also help with those who wish to submit additional pieces.
Excursions
Please remember to return all notes and monies to the office ASAP. We are only able to continue to offer these things when we have the full support of families. As a school we will always subsidise as much as we can. This week we are asking families of students K-2 for a small offering for the bus to Leeton. Carpooling is not an option for the younger grades due to seatbelt safety regulations.
