VOCABULARY
Sound manipulation
Sound manipulation is the act of rearranging or changing individual sounds (phonemes) in a word to create new words (real or made-up).
For example in the words “fit, sit, bit” we are changing the first sound to make a new word.
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Children can make a list of words and make new words by deleting or substituting a sound they hear.
- Hat - Bat (first sound changed)
- Bat - Bot (middle sound changed)
Bot - Bob (Last sound changed)
