Ancient Day
On Wednesday the 22nd of May, the year 7s had their annual Ancient History Day. On the day we were split in groups and rotated around activities. These activities included Gladiators, Ancient Egypt, Ancient Rome, The Spartans and Athens, and weaponry.
In the Gladiator activity, we learned about different types of gladiators, how gladiator fights were run, we learnt how to fight and even held a few competitions. In the Weapons activity, we went out on the oval, and did some archery. We shot at a target, and even our classmates (with shields of course). In the Ancient Rome everyday life rotation, we learnt about various jobs of people in Ancient Rome, we were able to dress up as different types of political members, their slaves and a peasant. In the Ancient Egypt hour, we learnt about ancient Egypt painting and got to have a look at what they would have worn. We learnt about the makeup and the different rulers. In the Spartans and Athens activity, we looked at lots of different armour, we also looked at the everyday clothes of the people.
Overall it was a very fun, educational and interesting day! I’m sure everyone had lots of good experiences.
