Week 6, Term 2

Physical Education

Prep PE

This week, students will be practicing the fundamental movement skills of leaping and dodging while focusing on balance. They will be encouraged to pay particular attention to how their arm position aids in maintaining balance during these activities.

Students will participate in rotational activities with the focus of improving their core strength, balance and ability to work in a small group.

In our final week of Netball, we will hone in on the proper techniques for passing, pivoting, and shooting. By focusing on these fundamental skills, students will build a strong foundation in the sport.

Grade 5 and 6

Students will engage in a modified game of Netball, where they'll focus on court positioning and teamwork while having fun. Through targeted drills, they'll enhance their passing, shooting, and pivoting skills.

Performing Arts

🎵 Prep

Students are continuing to engage in First Nations music to explore beat patterns, pitch and movement. They will continue to learn an 'Acknowledgment of Country' song with movements. Students will continue practising using clap-sticks to play beat patterns in another First Nations song they are learning. Through their singing, students are exploring high and low vocal sounds.

🎤 Grade 1 and 2

Students are continuing to investigate the musical element of ‘pitch’. They will explore 'Pitch Maps' as a graphic score to show how sound can step, slide or jump higher or lower. Students will use the playground to inspire the creation of their own pitch map, which they can sing, move to, or play on a pitched instrument. They will also begin to learn a First Nations song to sing together.

🎶 Grade 3 and 4

Students are continuing to develop characters using voice and movement. They will use another script to bring their characters to life, this week investing how the drama elements of time and place can inform the action and characters.

🎭 Grade 5 and 6

Students are working working together to bring a large puppet, which they made in prior weeks, to life. They have chosen something they know really well (eg. ballet, kicking the football, swimming etc.) to 'copy from life', incorporating as much detail and specificity into the puppet. Students will be at various stages at the end of the week, including planning, rehearsing, performing or reflecting on their performance.
