Level 3 & 4 Wonga Weekly

Week 6, Term 2

WEEK 6 LEARNING

📚 Literacy

This week in Phonics we are exploring the ow sound (ow as in cow, ou as in house).

In Reading, students will analyse and compare comics and graphic novels. They will be using their own prior knowledge and evidence from the text to infer meaning that is not specifically stated in the text.

What you can do at home

Help your child to set aside time to read - preferably every night. This will help them build important learning habits. Your child now has access to Reading Eggspress, to help with adding variety to their range of text choices.

In Writing, we will  explore the language features of graphic novels in order to create our own. Students will investigate the correct use of talking marks in dialogue and will be encouraged to use descriptive language to 'show don't tell'.

🎲 Maths

This week we are building and practicing a range of mental and written subtraction strategies in order to solve complex problems. Students will find missing numbers and balance equations.

What you can do at home

Students have access to set addition and subtraction questions on Mathletics. Please encourage them to achieve 400 points each week.

Grade Three and Four Recipe Book

Our recipe books have been printed and have been sent home. It is not too late to purchase your copy - they are now available at the office.
