This week students are using learning different addition and subtraction strategies to solve worded problems. 

VOCABULARY

Addition: an action of putting two numbers together to get one whole number 

Subtraction: taking a number away from a whole number and finding the difference

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Using hand on materials for addition and subtraction

Write some two digit addition and subtraction sums for your child. 

 Using pom poms, buttons, or other materials, have your child solve the sums written. 

Something harder: Ask your child to use different strategies that they have been practicing at school.
