Heritage Week
All Saints' College's 12th annual Heritage Week continued in Week 4, with students enjoying a number of activities to celebrate our 43-year history. Students in Years 3 and 4 formed into House teams to piece together jigsaws of archival images of campus buildings, and organised aerial photos of the campus into the correct years. Working in pairs, students had limited time to complete as much of the jigsaw as possible before tagging in the next pair from their House. The fastest House to complete their puzzle for Year 3 was Stirling House, with O'Connor coming a close second. Congratulations to Durack House who won the Jigsaw Challenge for Year 4, and to Murdoch House who won the aerial sorting component.
Students in our Early Childhood years (Kindergarten – Year 2) were invited to participate in the Heritage Week colouring competition, with the artworks created by Old Saint Samara Ainge (Class of 2022). Students showcased their artistic skills by colouring a picture of a place or building at All Saints' College. Members of the Old Saints’ Committee judged the competition.
We congratulate the following Winners and Runners-up of the ECC Heritage Week Colouring Competition. These students will receive their prizes at the upcoming ECC Reflection in Week 9.

Years 3 and 4 Grandparents and Special Friends
Our Years 3 and 4 Grandparents and Special Friends' morning was a heartwarming event filled with cherished moments. Following a delightful morning tea on the Lower Theatre lawn, our esteemed guests joined us in the classroom. Here the students took on the role of interviewers, engaging their grandparents in conversations sparked by prepared questions. Topics ranged from nostalgic tales of where they grew up to discussions about various photographs depicting present and past scenes of Perth – all tied to our ongoing 'What's Our Stories?' inquiry theme centred around the Swan River and Point Walter. It was a joyous occasion where generations connected, stories were shared, and memories were made.
IPSHA Performing Arts Festival
The IPSHA Performing Arts Festival, held on Wednesday 15 May at Penrhos College, was an incredible event celebrating the creative arts where 50 students in Years 4–6 represented All Saints’ College. Over the day students interacted with other schools, participated in rehearsals and workshops run by other teachers, and performed a Matinée for Penrhos College students and an evening performance for parents and invited guests. The focus for the day was the process of being involved in the performing arts and the amazing effect collaboration has on the mind of students.
Saints Voices and Junior Voices, along with the Junior School String Quartet, combined to sing a wonderful piece ‘Alone In The Universe’ from Seussical – The Musical. The Years 5 and 6 Cocurricular Dance Girls then burst into a dance, ‘All the Thinks You Can Think’, also from Seussical. The energy and enjoyment displayed on stage were incredible, and the students should be so proud of their efforts.
A special thank you goes to Ms Amelia Verlato, Miss Casey Allan, Ms Emma Buss, Miss Mia Brine, Mrs Rosemary Jose, and Mr Nic Christie for their help on a long, yet enjoyable day.
Year 2 Inquiry
In Week 5 Year 2 students focused on questions around what the world is made of? These questions evolved from Charlie's question, "What if the world were made of jelly?" After watching videos of a jelly pool, making and experimenting with jelly, we have concluded that there may be several issues with having a jelly Earth! From this, students asked questions: "What is our planet made of?", "Is our planet made of liquid, solid or gas?", "What part of our planet is solid?" and "What part of our planet is liquid?".
On Friday 17 May, Mr Browne, who is a geologist, visited as an expert to answer students' questions. Students looked at what he does in his job as a geologist and made models of the Earth from modelling clay, showing the core, mantle and crust. Between consulting the expert and researching on the internet and in books, students found answers to their questions and documented them in a concept map. Students learned to create line animations using Keynote on their iPads, to document their understanding of what the Earth is made of.

In Term 3 of 2024, the SHPE department is excited to announce the continuation of the J&J Mini Saints Soccer Clinic for our Years 1 and 2 students. The program is run by Professor Adi Juric, one of the most highly qualified coaches in Western Australia with extensive international coaching experience.
Dates - 23 July to 17 September (9 weeks). Sessions will run on Tuesday afternoons starting in Week 2 of Term 3.
When - 3.30pm - 4.15pm
Where - Junior School Oval if weather permits or the Indoor Sports Centre if rain is expected.
These clinics will introduce young players to the game of soccer by helping them develop essential motor skills, coordination, and confidence in a safe and non-competitive environment. In addition to teaching the fundamentals of the game, the clinics promote teamwork, social interaction, and physical well-being. By providing kids with a strong foundation in their early years, we aim to foster a lifelong love of the game.
