ANZAC Day News

On Friday, 24th April we held an ANZAC Day Commemorative Assembly.
ANZAC Day marks the anniversary of the landing of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915. It is also a time to remember all those who have lost their lives in military service, as well as those who continue to serve around the world today.
We extend our sincere thanks to the students and staff who contributed to the assembly, and to our special guests for joining us on this significant occasion. Special thanks to Colonel Philip Kearsley for delivering a moving address to our College community and to Rhys D. who played the Last Post and Reveille (trumpet) and to Freya H. and Hanna G. for their beautiful rendition of Advance Australia Fair.
The assembly honoured the courage and sacrifice by those who served in conflicts throughout history. On ANZAC Day, we remember all who have fought to defend Australia’s freedom. From the First and Second World Wars to the Vietnam War and beyond, many Australians have endured harsh conditions and made the ultimate sacrifice. It was through these experiences that the ANZAC spirit was forged—characterised by mateship, bravery, endurance, determination and selflessness.
We also acknowledge and thank all Australians currently serving in military and peacekeeping operations across the globe. ANZAC Day provides an important opportunity to reflect, to express our gratitude, and to recognise the service of these brave men and women, along with the support of their families.
Lest we forget.
