Student Learning - 1/2 and STEM

This week in Year 1 we have been learning about Measurement! Students have been enjoying finding out how heavy and long different items around the classroom are using informal units such as unifix cubes, string and icy pole sticks.

This week the grade 2s have been measuring length with informal units. We used pop sticks, MAB blocks, and unifix cubes to measure our height in 2S!

The little mathematicians in 1R are learning how to measure the capacity via our exciting "NOT TOO MUCH' maths game!

In Inquiry, 2B have been looking at technology in the past and today. We built the old fashioned game of Cup-and-ball-on-a-string using an origami cup.

STEM: Year 1 Meet Talebot!

This term, Year 1 students have been getting to know Talebot — a cute little coding robot that moves across a grid mat. Students program Talebot by pressing colourful directional buttons in sequence, then watch as it follows their instructions exactly. It's been a lot of fun!

The first lesson has already sparked some great teamwork and problem-solving. When Talebot doesn't go the right way, students work together to figure out what went wrong and try again. I can't wait to see where the next few lessons take us!
