Year 5 and 6 Swimming
The Year 5 and 6 Swimming Program is completed for our Year 5 and 6 students. Well done to all the students who participated in the swimming lessons at Bluewater. Swimming is a valuable skill for life. A big thank you to the teachers who supported the program and to the parents, guardians and grandparents who assisted with walking the students to and from the pool. We are very grateful for your help.
Year 1 – 4 Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons will continue for the rest of Term 2 at Heather’s Swim School. A very big thank you to the parent volunteers that are assisting with walking students to and from the pool. Classes from Years 1 and 2 will meet the parents at the entry gate at the front of the school. Classes from Years 3 and 4 will meet the parents at the entry gate in Pound Road.
Greater Western Cross Country
Congratulations to the students who competed in the Colac Division Cross Country at the Colac Golf Club. It was great to see everyone trying so hard in extremely difficult conditions. We have a number of students who have qualified for the next stage. We wish these student all the best when they compete in the Greater Western Region Cross Country on Tuesday 26th May at Albert Park (Reid Oval), Warrnambool. Students may travel by bus to the Greater Western Cross Country. The cost of the bus is $10 per students. Parents may also travel on the bus at a cost of $20 per adults (please pay money to the office before the event). Students will need to wear their sport uniform. Please keep an eye on the weather forecast because coats and extra clothes may be needed in wet weather. Students will also need their water bottles, snacks, fruit and lunch. A canteen is available on the day for students to purchase food and drink. GW Cross Country merchandise is also available for students to purchase. We will be leaving from St Mary's Church Carpark at 8.00 am. We will return to Sacred Heart PS at approximately 2.15pm. Colac Division AFL 9’s Football
Last Friday many of our Year 5 and 6 boys walked to Elliminyt Primary school for our AFL 9’s Football team trials. The Colac Division AFL 9’s Football Competition will take place on Friday 29th May at Colac Central reserve. We will be sending four teams to this event. Each team consists of 12-14 players. One of our teams will also consist of five St Brendan’s PS footballers. All Sacred Heart students who trialled will play on the day. AFL 9’s is the format of football (SSV no longer accepts teams of 15-18 players). With this format, we need parents to assist with coaching on the day and we also need secondary students to assist with the umpiring. If you can help out on the day or have a teenager in Year 8, 9 or 10 who is willing to umpire on this day, can you please indicate on the PAM document that will be sent out at the end of the week. Colac Division Netball Lightening Premiership
Our Year 5 and 6 girls have been trialling for the Colac Division Netball Lightning Premiership. This event will take place on Friday 29th May at the Eastern Reserve. We are hoping to enter four netball teams in this event. Do to the large number of teams, we do need parents to assist with coaching on the day and we also need secondary students to assist with the umpiring. If you can help out on the day or have a teenager in Year 8, 9 or 10 who is willing to umpire on this day, can you please indicate on the PAM document that will be sent out at the end of the week. 1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are netball and tennis.
2. What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is netball.
3. What’s your favourite position to play and why? My favourite position in netball is Goal Attack (GA) because you can run around a lot and get to shoot goals.
4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was winning the netball finals.
5. What skills do you think you’ve improved the most? In netball, I have improved my goal shooting because I am now more accurate. My defending skills have also improved.
6. Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting team is the Collingwood Football Club.
7. If you could play sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I had the chance to play sport with a famous athlete, I would choose tennis player Jannik Sinner. He is my favourite player because he seems really nice and is a fantastic tennis player.
8. What’s your pre-game routine or lucky habit? My pre-game routine is listening to music.
9. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coaches and teammates would describe me as kind, friendly, and a strong netball defender and shooter.
10. What makes a good sportsperson? A good sportsperson is someone who is kind, respectful, and helps others when they are injured. They are also encouraging and show good sportsmanship.

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are cricket and dance.
2. What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is cricket.
3. What’s your favourite position to play and why? My favourite position in cricket is bowling because you can bowl the ball and get wickets by hitting the stumps.
4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was getting my first wicket in cricket.
5. What skills do you think you’ve improved the most? I have improved my batting skills in cricket.
6. Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting team is the Australian Women’s Cricket Team.
7. If you could play sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I had the chance to play sport with a famous athlete, I would choose Australian cricketer Alex Carey.
8. What’s your pre-game routine or lucky habit? My pre-game routine is making sure that I warm up really well.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I scored my first goal in football.
5. What skills do you think you’ve improved the most? The skill I have improved the most is bowling in cricket.

2. What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is football.
3. What’s your favourite position to play and why? My favourite position in football is the backline because I enjoy defending the ball and trying to stop the opposition from kicking goals.
4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I took a specky over an opposition player and marked the ball.
5. What skills do you think you’ve improved the most? The skill I have improved the most is bouncing the football. I have become much quicker.
6. Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting team is AFL club Carlton Football Club.
7. If you could play sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I could play sport with a famous athlete, I would choose Patrick Cripps because he is my favourite Carlton player and has won two Brownlow Medals.
8. What’s your pre-game routine or lucky habit? My pre-game routine before a game is to meditate and prepare for the game ahead.
9. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coaches and teammates would say that I am a good player who is very skilful.
10. What makes a good sportsperson? A good sportsperson is someone who encourages their teammates and shows respect to others.
