Principal's Report
As we conclude the midterm week and look back, it is wonderful to reflect on some of the activities that students and staff have shared.
It is pleasing to see that not only are our students participating in a plethora of interschool sports; as well as having fun, they are achieving success with many banners being won for the first time in some years.
Congratulations to our senior boys’ badminton team, our intermediate girls’ badminton team, our intermediate boys’ soccer team, and our year 8 boys’ badminton team for all attaining runners up flags. These are the first flags that Scoresby Secondary College has won in a decade!
Congratulations also to Jackson Holmes, Lauren Sandford, and Connor MacLeod for reaching the zone cross country and we wish them all the best at the upcoming zone event, as they work to reach state finals.
Two new camps have been booked for 2027, one for year 7, and another for senior school, that will both broaden opportunities for students to experience new water-based activities as they challenge themselves and forge positive relationships with fellow students and staff.
I'd like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the commitment of our staff, teaching and nonteaching, who ensure that our students have a variety of camps to attend as they progress through secondary school; as well as the opportunity to compete in many interschool and lunchtime activities. Without staff support of such events, these opportunities would not be possible.

Saturday16 May was Education Support (ES) Staff Day, and we celebrated our ES staff with an acknowledgement morning tea. Without our education support staff, we, and schools in general, could not operate. We are fortunate to have hard working and committed support staff who daily contribute to a positive learning environment for our community.

On Friday 22 May we celebrated multiculturalism within our school, and Australian society as a whole. Our humanities domain leader Ms Tilley, very capably supported by staff and VCE Vocational Major students, planned for a day full of international flavour, literally, and figuratively. Students participated in a mini-Olympics experiencing sports from varying countries and cooked cuisine from India, Italy, Mexico, Japan, Australia, and many more nations; with a market fair on offer during lunchtime so that all could sample various international cuisine.
It was wonderful to see many students and staff come to school in their cultural dress as can be seen below. To conclude the day, an assembly provided the opportunity for many students to perform culturally significant musical pieces, with our Dance elective troop performing in smooth harmony to "Cotton Eye Joe" as the final act. The talents of students and staff never cease to impress and as always, the audience enthusiastically encouraged and supported our courageous students as they showcased their various talents.
Next week, students will undertake the student attitudes to school opinion survey. This survey informs the school of student’s perceptions of their learning and wellbeing within and beyond the classroom. Such data is used to inform the school of the effectiveness of learning, wellbeing and curricular programs, and is shared with students and staff on an annual basis.
