Principal's Message

Welcome to Week 4 of Term 2 at Leongatha Primary School!
Dear Families
It’s shaping up to be another busy and exciting week, with a range of opportunities for our students to learn, connect and shine.
We are delighted to be welcoming prospective families for our Prep 2027 tours on Tuesday 12 May and Friday 15 May. These tours are a wonderful chance to showcase the vibrant learning environment at our school, where curiosity is nurtured and every child is supported to grow. There is always something special about seeing our school through fresh eyes, and we look forward to sharing what makes Leongatha Primary such a great place to learn.
On Wednesday 13 May, senior students will take part in our House Cross Country. This is always a highlight of the term, promoting perseverance, school spirit and a healthy dose of friendly competition. I am particularly looking forward to getting out there and racing alongside the students—it’s always a fantastic atmosphere and a lot of fun! For more information on times and to see the course maps, please have a look at the Specialist Snapshot section of the newsletter.
Thursday 14 May will see our Grade 4 students head off on their Wildlife Excursion. This experience connects directly to their classroom learning, giving students the opportunity to explore habitats, living things and environmental sustainability in a real-world context. Excursions like these bring the curriculum to life and deepen students’ understanding through hands-on experiences.
On Friday 15 May, our Grade 6 Winter Sport program continues. It has been fantastic to see students demonstrating teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship each week. I would also like to make special mention of our Grade 6 leaders, who have impressed me greatly with the launch of Project Kindness. This initiative focuses on recognising and celebrating random acts of kindness across our school, with students and staff being “caught out” and rewarded with a badge. It’s a wonderful way to build a positive and inclusive school culture, and I commend our leaders for their initiative and enthusiasm.
This week also marks the beginning of our ATOSS work with students in Grades 4, 5 and 6. I am really looking forward to engaging with our students and hearing their perspectives about how our school is going. Their voice is incredibly important, and this process helps us continue to grow and improve as a community.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support. I look forward to another great week ahead.
Warm regards,
Warwick
