Inform & Empower Cyber Safety Program
This term, our students have continued to participate in the Inform & Empower Cyber Safety Program, an engaging and interactive initiative designed to help children navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. Through age-appropriate sessions, students explored topics including online safety, digital citizenship, respectful online behaviour, cyberbullying prevention, and healthy technology habits.
The program also supports teachers and families by providing practical strategies and resources to reinforce positive online behaviours at school and at home. By empowering students with the knowledge and skills to make safe choices online, we are helping them become confident, responsible, and respectful digital citizens.
This term, students participated in the Inform & Empower Cyber Safety Program, with a focus on developing healthy digital habits. Through age-appropriate lessons and discussions, students explored how to use technology in balanced and positive ways, while learning about the importance of wellbeing both online and offline.
Foundation students explored the difference between active and passive screen time. They discussed the concepts of creating versus consuming and considered how understanding this difference can help them make more thoughtful choices about screen use.
Years 1 and 2 focused on the importance of balancing screen time with 'green time', developing healthy sleep habits, and understanding why it can sometimes be difficult to put devices down.
Years 3 and 4 investigated screen time and its impact on emotions and wellbeing. Students explored how screen use can affect sleep and discussed the importance of balancing time spent on devices with time spent outdoors and engaging in other activities.
Years 5 and 6 focused on building a healthy relationship with technology. They explored the benefits of 'green time', the importance of quality sleep, and the potential impacts of excessive screen time on health and wellbeing.
To further support this learning, below are parent information sheets for each level, outlining key messages from the program. We encourage families to discuss these topics with their children and continue building positive online habits together.
