At Woodmans Hill Secondary College, there is no such thing as a ‘quiet week’, just as there is no such thing as a ‘quiet term’. This term has been filled with so many amazing moments across the college, and I would like to share just a few of them.
Magic Moments Youth Leadership Summit
We are lucky enough to be sending 5 students to the Magic Moments Youth Leadership Summit this year. The summit is held each year during the June school holidays and invites students from across the Ballarat Secondary schools to apply for a position at the summit. We had a large number of applications this year and I would like to congratulate the following students who will be representing Woodmans Hill Secondary College at the Magic Moments Youth Leadership Summit:
• Samirah H • Ethan W• Bonnie P • Kasadee B• Ishant S
A huge thank you to the Community Bank Buninyong for once again funding this life-changing opportunity for our students.
ABC Takeover
Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the ABC Takeover Red-Carpet Event, where stories from Ballarat young people were showcased. I was incredibly proud to see the stories of Charlie W, Bonnie P and Samirah H featured on the big screen.
You may remember that this journey began late last year when the ABC visited Woodmans Hill Secondary College to facilitate writing workshops with students across the school. Students also had the opportunity to be interviewed by BTN (Behind the News).
When I was first contacted by the ABC and invited for Woodmans Hill Secondary College to be involved, I never imagined just how special this experience would become. Every student who participated in the workshops, entered the story competition or was interviewed by BTN should feel immensely proud of themselves.
Student Voice
This term, our students completed the Resilient Youth Survey, which focused on gathering student voice around wellbeing and resilience. While the survey data is anonymous, it provides invaluable insights that help inform wellbeing programs for our students and the wider school community.
Students also completed our annual Attitudes to School Survey, which gives them the opportunity to share their perspectives on teaching, learning and life at Woodmans Hill Secondary College. We use this feedback to shape future programs and priorities across the College.
Uniform
As the weather has certainly cooled off, now is the perfect time to check your child's uniform. Please ensure your child has the correct Woodmans Hill Secondary College uniform, including approved jumpers and jackets.
Please note that our classrooms are heated. Students are welcome to layer their clothing underneath their uniform; however, these items should not be visible when wearing their school uniform. This means items such as hooded jumpers are not permitted.
We understand that school uniforms can be expensive. If you require support in purchasing uniform items for your child, please do not hesitate to contact your child's Year Level Leader.
Wishing all of our families a warm, safe and restful school holiday break.
