Deputy Principal

As we wrap up an exciting and eventful term, I am thrilled to share some highlights and important updates with our school community.

Farewell to Our Year 12s – The Beginning of New Adventures

After 13 years of hard work and dedication, our Year 12 students have reached a significant milestone, the conclusion of their school journey. We are incredibly proud to say farewell to this remarkable group of young people who are destined to make a positive impact on society.

As they prepare to embark on their HSC examinations starting Tuesday, 13th October, it is crucial that they attend all compulsory exams to qualify for their HSC. For those aiming to receive an ATAR, sitting exams in subjects such as English Studies, Mathematics Standard 1, and VET courses are essential. Students can easily access their personal exam timetables via the Students Online portal.

I would also like to congratulate Year 12 on their fantastic finish to the term with ‘Spirit Week.’ This celebration extended beyond expectations and truly embodied creativity, community spirit, and positive energy. A special highlight of the week was when staff secretly dressed as students on the same day that students dressed up as teachers, Go staff on this win!  However, their victory was short-lived, as Year 12 triumphed in the Broccoli Cup netball competition, winning 4-3 in a thrilling and hard-fought decider. Congratulations to our Year 12s on an outstanding year and best of luck as they approach their exams.

A huge thank you to Ms Fait and Ms Rahman for all their planning over this term and their work as Year Advisors over the years.  They have done a fantastic job with so many connections formed with this beautiful year group. They have been a guiding influence in the development of these young people, and again, I say thank you for all your tireless work.

Year 10: Preparing for Senior Studies and Future Pathways

Our Year 10 cohort has also had a busy term, finalising their senior subject selections with some exciting improvements to support student choice. We will provide finalised subject information by mid-next term. Meanwhile, it is vital that students keep up with their current studies, as Year 10 RoSA grades are due early next term. Please ensure all assessments and coursework are completed and submitted on time.

For students considering apprenticeships or traineeships as an alternative to senior studies, I encourage you to arrange a meeting with me to discuss your transition options.

Year 8: Engaged, Active, and Thriving

Our Year 8 students have been quietly committed to their learning and extracurricular activities. From 'Mental Health First Aid' sessions led by Ms Georgie (SSO), to ‘Beyond the Classroom’ programs, Sports Gala Days, and Sports Inspire Day, they have stayed active and engaged throughout the term. I am sure they are eagerly anticipating a well-deserved Spring holiday break.

We have, however, noticed a rise in some online safety concerns. To support families, I encourage you to visit the eSafety Commissioner website for useful advice and resources.

A Huge Thank You to Our Dedicated Staff

I want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible efforts of our staff, especially our wellbeing team. This term’s R U OK? Day and Multicultural Day celebrations were inspiring and enjoyed by students. Our teachers and support staff have tirelessly organised a rich array of opportunities from debating competitions and Premier’s Reading challenges to the Luna Park Science excursion, HSIE Medieval Times incursion, numerous CAPA events, after school clubs, and fun filled Book Week competitions. Their commitment continues to make our school a vibrant and nurturing learning environment where our students can excel in so many ways.

Wishing all families a restful and safe Spring holiday break.  We look forward to welcoming all students back refreshed and ready to start Term 4 on Tuesday, 13th October.
