McClelland College Record Breaking VCE Results!

Congratulations to our Class of 2023 on their outstanding VCE results for 2023!  For the first time ever in the school’s history, over 59% of students attained an ATAR above 70, meaning they should have first choice in university courses when offers are revealed.  An outstanding achievement by all!

Our 2023 Dux is Mitchell Przybylowski with an ATAR of 95.7, a culmination of his outstanding work in VCE subjects since first completing a unit as a Year 8 student all the way back in 2019! Mitch had an exceptional year, in which he also completed a university enhancement subject in the field of Science through the University of Melbourne.  Well done Mitch!

Additionally, Mitch (along with our superstar VM student Mikayla Williamson) were the stars of a Herald Sun article which was published over the weekend celebrating the flexibility of both VCE and VM pathways.  Well done to both Mitch and Mikayla!

In early 2020, the College received a letter from a local solicitor in regards to a person who had passed away. This person’s name was Mr Lawrence (Lawrie) Esson.

After Mr Esson’s passing he left a number of gifts to schools and organisations in our local area. As a result of this, Mr Esson has left a substantial amount of money to our college.

His wishes were to establish a trust fund called the “Lawrie Esson Bursary” which will distribute six scholarships each year, valued at $1000 each, to our top six VCE ATAR scorers who attend University. These funds are designed to assist our students with the costs associated with undertaking their tertiary education.

This is an incredible gesture and will have a profound impact in supporting our students with further studies.

We take great pleasure in being able to support Mr Esson’s wishes and the invaluable support these funds will provide to our students over many years to come.

The Lawrie Esson Bursary was presented to the following students:

With an ATAR of 86.6 - Dayna Corkery.  Dayna had an outstanding year across the board both academically and through her involvement in extracurricular activities.  She was a School Vice Captain, and the Vice President of the College Interact Club, leading her to be celebrated as the school’s Valedictorian. She also achieved the highest study score in General Mathematics, with a score of 40. Dayna is hoping to study Civil Engineering at RMIT next year.  Congratulations Dayna!

With an ATAR of 86.75 - Izack Nessel.

Izack was the top performer in three of his subjects, including Philosophy, Legal and Accounting. His score of 40 in Philosophy places him in an elite group of only 80 students in the state. He was also a member of the Interact Club leadership group, taking on the role of Treasurer in the Club’s inaugural year.  Next year, Izack is weighing up his options, but is interested in potentially studying at Monash University. Congratulations Izack!

Hannah also achieved the highest study score in Mathematics Methods.  In 2024, Hannah has a range of options that she is exploring, including Biomedicine at Melbourne University.  Congratulations Hannah!
