Deputy Principal Report

This term has gone by very quickly and I can not believe we have finished our Preliminary courses in our Senior subjects. Many Year 10 students have begun their TAFE journey with 25 students starting TAFE in Term 2 and 8 completing the Term 1 program. Year 8 have settled into their classes, with many new enrolments to this year group.

Buses

It is asked that students tap on and off on the bus each day when travelling to and from school. This is to have accurate numbers of students on buses, and this will ensure that we may be able to gain an additional bus in both the morning and afternoons.

Uniform

It is wonderful to see students mostly in uniform. Could I please reinforce the need for leather shoes, particularly in the Science and TAS rooms for safety. Our school has green jumpers for juniors and white for seniors, and green shorts. We are introducing a black puffer jacket for those cold mornings, and this will be available as of next term. Friday is sports day, students should be in their yellow sports shirt on this day, along with their sports shorts which represent their house teams.

Examinations

Year 8-10 will have examinations at the beginning of Term 2. The examination timetables have been handed out to all students and will be made available online on our school socials. They have also been placed into the students Year Group, Google Classrooms.

YONDR Pouches

We continue to find success with YONDR pouches at Evans High School. This is our third year of YONDR and we continue to see that students enjoy their time at recess and lunch by talking with friends, the courts are busier than ever, the playground is noisy with kids talking and students feel as though they can be silly and have fun with their friends without fear of having it filmed. Where there is trouble, is when kids are being unkind at home, and it is brought into school this way. It is never OK to be rude or nasty online. Before you type, think would I say this in a face-to-face conversation with another person?

Homework Centre

Homework Centre is an excellent resource available to High Students on Monday and Thursday afternoons. The Centre runs from 2.45-4.45. Grab a permission note from the library and sign and return it to attend. It can provide help with assignments, homework and general course work.
