Positive Behaviour for Learning - PBL
Last Thursday night at the Parent Information Evening, we presented our new Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) matrix draft. It is a work in progress and we are very proud of the work that has been done with the whole staff to produce this framework. We are supporting our students in the best ways possible to demonstrate these behaviours and expectations. We are seeking your feedback in this journey, as the document will be developed and revised as the matrix contents continue to evolve throughout the term. Thank you to the many families who have already shared their thoughts and ideas.
Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is a whole-school framework that promotes positive behaviour across our school and helps students and staff to develop safe and supportive learning environments. It is where students are explicitly taught the expected behaviours and where we establish clear and consistent boundaries.
St John's Staff all take a proactive, preventative approach to manging behaviours, to ensure students receive the appropriate level of support, to help them to be successful at school. It is an exciting time for us and we know that our students will benefit greatly from this renewed school wide framework.
Peaceful Kids & Social Skills Groups
We are very lucky to have Mrs Amanda Hill supporting me in running our Peaceful Kids & Social Skills groups across the school. These group sessions will be starting this week on Friday, in the middle block. They will be at this time every week and will provide some of our students with the extra support that they need for success.
Please keep an eye out in the Newsletter each fortnight for some Wellbeing tips, support and news. I look forward to a great 2024 with you all. Please do not hesitate to reach out if there is anything that you need. I can be contacted via email at: tfarrar@sjmitcham.catholic.edu.au
Harmony Day - Monday, 25 March
This year to celebrate Harmony Day we are seeking a variety of families to share their cultural stories with the students. The sessions are run like mini workshops throughout the morning, for all students across the school. If you and your child/children would like to share your Cultural Story or Background then please contact Mrs Tracey Farrar.
