Performing Arts Update
Year 2 Assembly Performance
This term in Performing Arts, our Year 2 students have been participating in Busking for Change, a nationwide initiative organised by the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
We are proud to be one of around 80 schools across Australia involved in this meaningful project. Busking for Change is designed to engage primary students in musical literacy while raising awareness about Indigenous languages and cultures.
Students around the country learn and perform the same song to help support the ILF, which produces books in the first languages spoken by children in remote communities.
This year’s song is inspired by the book Country Tells Us When, which explores how Indigenous communities understand and follow seasonal changes based on their connection to Country.
Our Year 2 students will perform their version of the song at our school assembly on Friday, 25 July (Week 1 of Term 3).
We would love you to attend this special performance - the students are looking forward to sharing it with you!
Expired Loyalty and Gift Cards
If you have any expired gift or loyalty cards you no longer need, we would love to use them in Performing Arts! Students in Years 1–6 will soon begin an introduction to ukulele playing, and as part of the program, we’ll be making our own picks. These plastic cards are perfect for crafting picks that students can use during their lessons.
You’re welcome to send any suitable cards to school with your child. (Please note: no old credit or bank cards, for privacy and security reasons.)
