News from the Art Room

Students have spent this week completing their National Water Week Poster for September’s National Poster Competition. These will be on display during next term (submissions are made digitally.) Here is a small offering of some that are already complete.

Students have also enjoyed exploring an art magazine that has been created for kids by kids! The In Mag is published every three months and showcases art work that students can submit online (with parent permission.) This week some students chose to start a piece that they may bring home to finish over the holidays. If they ask you to submit it, please visit the link below. We will be subscribing to the In Mag so that students can enjoy many editions of the magazine during class time and continue to be inspired by the creativity of others!

Donations - I would love any donations of hula hoops for an upcoming weaving project. A range of sizes would be amazing if you have any at home that are not being used!

Looking forward to an exciting and busy term three!

School Holiday Activity Suggestions

National Portrait Gallery - My Awesome Australian

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Australian honours system with the National Portrait Gallery and the Office of the Official Secretary to the Governor-General.

The Australian honours system has been recognising outstanding Australians for 50 years! To celebrate the anniversary, we’re inviting school students from across the country to create a portrait of someone in their community who they think deserves to be recognised.

Selected portraits will form part of an online exhibition that will be officially launched by Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, and all participating students will be invited to the virtual opening with the Governor-General during National Children's Week in October.

If your child/children are interested in entering please see

the link below for details. A handy school holiday activity!
