That’s a Wrap!
Congratulations to all students for their incredible artworks on display during our Winter Solstice event in Week 9. The art show was a vibrant celebration of colour, texture and creativity — a true feast for the senses!
If you missed it, the Art Room and JCB were transformed into immersive art spaces showcasing student work across the school.
F/1 students created a recycled box installation featuring painted shapes covered in coloured cellophane — perfect for guests to peek through on the night! They also presented abstract artworks inspired by Henri Matisse, focusing on bold colours, layered shapes and fine liner faces. Another highlight was their vibrant scraper paintings, finished with shimmering gold and silver details.
2/3 students led visitors along dinosaur footprints to colourful nests filled with paper mâché eggs. These were crafted from newspaper and tissue paper, then painted and nestled into bark, straw and sticks collected from the school grounds. After the show, the nests were returned to nature — with some bark kept in the Art Room for next term’s projects. This cohort also displayed stunning Matisse-inspired negative space bug artworks, layered over colourful painted backgrounds.
3/4 students exhibited striking artworks inspired by Carolyn Gavin, including snakes and flower-headed portraits that showcased their confident use of colour, intricate detail, and layered composition. Their winter-themed watercolour salt paintings shimmered with crystal-like effects — a perfect nod to the season.
5/6 students collaborated on a large hanging mobile inspired by Carolyn Gavin. Each student contributed three double-sided animals or objects, painted and strung with beads to form an eye-catching whole-cohort piece. They also created whimsical watercolour collage animals inspired by Pete Cromer and a collection of inflated puff paintings with a Winter Solstice theme.
What a joyful and inspiring celebration of our students’ creative talents — well done, everyone!
