Performing Arts - Drama

It’s been a productive and creative term in Performing Arts, with students in Grades 4 to 6 developing their drama skills through a variety of fun and engaging activities.

Grade 4

Grade 4 students have been learning about the key elements of drama, with a focus on tension and expression. They’ve begun to improvise short scenes and build confidence performing in front of others. Working in small groups has also helped them strengthen their teamwork skills while creating performances that capture their audience’s attention.

Grade 5

In Grade 5, students have explored the world of puppetry. Working alongside the Art program, they made their own puppets inspired by native Australian animals using socks and other craft materials. Their puppet shows are based on Dreaming stories, which they’ve rehearsed and recorded, ready to share with their classmates next week. It’s been fantastic to see their creativity and collaboration come to life.

Grade 6

Grade 6 students have been working on monologues inspired by a chosen prop, set within the theme of a made-up TV show called Amazing Artefacts. Each student picked an object and built a character around its significance, imagining how that character would appear on the show. They planned, rehearsed, recorded, and edited their performances, showing a wide range of skills and plenty of imagination along the way.

It’s been great to see students trying new things, working together, and building their drama skills through a variety of activities!
