OzHarvest FEAST program

Healthy Living Program
It’s been another fantastic term in the Healthy Living Program! Over the term, Grade 5 and 6 students have been following OzHarvest’s FEAST program for our practical cooking lessons, learning not only how to prepare nutritious meals but also how to reduce food waste and make sustainable food choices. In addition to their time in the kitchen, students have enjoyed staying active with a variety of outdoor games, including kickball and dodgeball, as well as some heart-pumping skipping activities.
Each week, students have rolled up their sleeves for our cooking sessions, building confidence and developing valuable culinary skills such as chopping, grating, whisking and safely working with heat. Students have also developed their teamwork skills, collaborating to prepare delicious dishes, such as: Fruit Skewers, Muesli Bliss Balls, Crunchy Noodle Salad, Pea and Corn Fritters, Burritos, Honey Soy Noodle Stir Fry and French Toast.
The success of the program would not have been possible without a helping hand:
We would like to thank OzHarvest for their partnership and ongoing support throughout the delivery of the program. Together, we have made a significant impact on our students’ understanding of food sustainability and healthy living!
Thank you to Ciabatta Della Nonna Bakery who generously donated so much bread for the delicious French Toast, that we were even able to send some bread bags home for students to recreate the recipe for their families over the weekend!
Thank you to the wonderful staff members who helped with the weekly set up, ensuring everything was prepared and ready for the students.
And of course, a very big thank you to our incredible parents and volunteers: Anita, Laura, Jonathan, Myles, Theoni, Alice, Miki, Amanda, Emma, Kelly, Emily and Abbey. We could not have run the practical sessions without you!
It has been amazing to see so many students try new foods and proudly bring their new knowledge and recipes home to share with their families! We’re so proud of the progress they have all made this term!
