Principal's Report

This will be our last newsletter for the term. Normally this Friday would be the last day of Term 2 however for some unknown reason this year Term 2 is an eleven-week term, so we won’t finish up until Friday July 4th. Term 3 is a nine-week term.

Reports

Teachers have nearly finished the Semester 1 reports and Assessment Portfolios. During the holidays I will be reading and signing the reports.

The Assessment Portfolios, including the reports, will be sent home on Tuesday July 22nd. We ask parents to read all of the information enclosed, sign the parent form and provide any feedback you believe is appropriate, and then return the portfolio to school by Tuesday July 29th so that you can refer to it during your child’s 3 Way Conference.

The Compass booking system for 3 Way conferences will open on Monday July 21st.  It is very important that parents, teachers and the child are all working towards the same goals to ensure your child is making the appropriate progress.

Building Update

Last week we had temporary fencing installed at the Junior School so that the tradies could start the process of moving one of the relocatables off site and relocating the other in preparation for the new building works to start. We thought the moving was going to occur this week however due to issues with the permit they will be moving on Monday and Tuesday of next week.

To assist with the moving could parents please not park their cars in Ellison St next Monday and Tuesday as we will have a large crane and several big front loaders needing access to the School.

Holiday Works

During the term break we are having several maintenance works done throughout the school.

  • Painting in classrooms and corridors at the Senior School
  • Testing and tagging of our electrical cords and appliances.

Senior School Toilets

At School Council on Monday night, we discussed getting quotes to update the toilets at the Senior School. While it is something we have discussed before we wonder if it is worth spending money to update something that the children treat with such disrespect.

Yesterday we had to close the Grade 4-6 boys' toilets due to the huge mess that some of the students had made. There were soap dispensers ripped off the walls and put in the urinal and a toilet. There was paper and water all over the floor and there was graffiti on the walls. This type of vandalism is not acceptable and the amount of time we have to spend attempting to find out who made the mess is a waste of our valuable time.

If you have any ideas on what we could try to prevent this from happening, please share them.

Holidays

Next Friday, July 4th, is the last day of Term 2 and school will finish at 2.30pm.

Parents please ensure you are not late to pick up your child as some children become quite upset if their parents are not here to pick them up on time.

I hope all of our families who are lucky enough to be escaping Melbourne and heading north to the sunshine have a lovely time over the term break. For those who are staying home I hope you rug up and relax.

We look forward to seeing you back at school on Monday July 21st.

Regards

Janet Paterson,

Principal.
