Dear Families,
As term 2 draws to a close this will be the final newsletter, so I want to take a moment to thank you all for your continued support and partnership in your child’s learning. It has been a busy and productive term, with our children working hard, achieving personal goals, and growing in confidence and capability. We are incredibly proud of their efforts.
Thank you also to our dedicated and passionate staff, who continue to go above and beyond to provide rich learning experiences and support every child’s wellbeing.
Wishing all our families a safe, restful, and happy holiday. Enjoy time together - we look forward to seeing you next term!
School Review
This week, St Michael’s undertook the MACS School Review process - an important opportunity that takes place every four years to reflect on our progress and shape the future direction of our school. Over two days, an external reviewer visited our school and spent time speaking with students, staff and parents, gaining valuable insights into our culture, strengths and areas for improvement.
In preparation for the review, our staff spent considerable time earlier this year examining our performance across five key spheres: Religious Education, Learning and Teaching, Wellbeing, Community, and Leadership and Management. We gathered evidence, data, and reflections, which we presented to the reviewer. Her role was to explore and test our perspectives by engaging with members of our community and considering a wide range of viewpoints.
This process is not only about accountability, but more importantly, it is a chance to affirm what we are doing well and to identify new goals that will lead to meaningful and sustainable improvement.
We expect to receive the reviewer’s formal feedback in term 3. This will inform the development of our new Four-Year School Improvement Plan - a strategic document that will guide our school’s growth and direction.
We are proud of the way our community came together during the review and are confident that St Michael’s is in a strong position to continue providing an excellent, faith-based education that nurtures the whole child. We look forward to sharing the results with families once they are finalised.
Building Program
As you can see from the photos, our building program is well underway! The initial stages have focused on demolition and creating access points for construction vehicles and equipment. Over the school holidays, we expect demolition to be completed and the framework for the new corridor structure to begin taking shape. It’s an exciting time for our school community, and I can’t wait to return next term to see the progress and share it with you. This project marks a significant step forward in enhancing our learning environment for all students.
Parent, Teacher, Student Interviews
These interviews will take place next week on Thursday and Friday, and our educators are looking forward to meeting with parents and students to discuss their successes and set goals for Semester Two. All families are expected to attend; please ensure you have booked an appointment with your child's teacher. if you need assistance in doing this please get in touch with our office or your child's teacher.
St Aloysius Musical Production - GREASE
On Wednesday, our Years 3 - 6 students were privileged to attend the St Aloysius production of Grease. The children thoroughly enjoyed the performance and were even heard singing the catchy tunes on their walk back to school!
We were especially proud to see two of our former students, Adrienne Ong and Alex Pham (Class of 2022), shining in lead roles. It’s always wonderful to see past students pursuing their passions and sharing their talents.
Grease will be showing over the weekend - if you have the chance, we highly recommend getting along to enjoy what promises to be a fantastic show!
Staff Farewell
We thank Ezza for all he has contributed to St Michael's during his time here and wish him and his partner well.
Every best wish for their travels and work overseas.
Vinnies collection
We all know that times are challenging, and the rising cost of living is affecting many families. In response, our Year 6 Social Justice Leaders are taking action to support those doing it tough by leading our school’s involvement in the Winter Appeal.
Each year level has been asked to contribute specific items to help make a difference in the lives of others. We’re inviting all families to support this initiative by simply picking up one or two extra items during your next supermarket shop and sending them along to your child’s classroom.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to put their faith into action and show compassion for others. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Thank you for your generosity and support.
Punctuality Plus
Thank you to all our families who are continuing to support their children in getting to school on time, as we have seen a significant decrease in the number of latecomers. Teaching our children that being punctual is an important life lesson. Congratulations to 3/4CA for being the Punctuality Champions last week, with fewer than six latecomers throughout the week. This week's winners are 1/2D, with 4 latecomers. 1/2D were also the most improved going from 8, to 4, late arrivals. Please assist your child and their class win this award by getting them to school before the gates are locked at 8:45am, allowing time for them to arrive at their classrooms and unpack by 8.50am.
Have a great week of learning.
