Curriculum Day – Positive Classroom Management
At Grayling Primary School, we are committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based education. A key part of this is creating a learning environment where every student feels safe, respected, and supported.
On Wednesday’s Curriculum Day, our teachers were fortunate to work with Todd McBeth, Executive Director of Student Wellbeing and Engagement for the Department of Education’s South-Eastern Region. Todd led an inspiring session on Positive Classroom Management Strategies, equipping staff with practical tools to build strong relationships, set clear expectations, and keep classrooms calm, consistent, and focused on learning.
These strategies help teachers create classrooms that are predictable and inclusive, while also supporting students to develop self-regulation, confidence, and a love of learning. Importantly, this approach is grounded in research and evidence, ensuring we are using practices proven to strengthen student engagement and wellbeing.
Year 5 & 6 Welcome Victoria Police for ‘Police in School’ Visit
On Thursday, our Year 5 and 6 students participated in the 'You Think You Know’ program that is delivered by the Proactive Policing Unit within the Victorian Police.
What did the visit entail?
Victoria Police officers spent time with students, sharing valuable insights into:
- Police roles and daily responsibilities, helping students understand how law enforcement serves and protects the community.
- Safety tips, covering topics like personal safety, online awareness, and knowing when and how to seek help.
Why this matters?
Programs like these are designed to foster respectful, trusting relationships between children and police. When school communities and law enforcement connect meaningfully, it promotes a sense of safety and mutual understanding.

Communication is key
We greatly value the strong partnerships we have with our parent community. Open and respectful communication is key to supporting your child’s learning and wellbeing.
We’ve noticed an increase in families contacting the school’s administration team to raise classroom-related concerns. While our admin team is always here to support, we kindly ask that initial queries regarding your child’s learning, behaviour, or wellbeing be directed to their classroom teacher via Compass.
Classroom teachers work closely with your child every day and are best placed to understand their individual needs, progress, and experiences. Reaching out to them first allows for the most timely and informed response.
If your concern requires further discussion beyond the classroom level, your teacher will then guide you on the appropriate next steps.
We thank you for your continued support and for helping us ensure communication remains clear, respectful, and effective for all.
Warm regards,
Lach Clydesdale and Meagan Lindberg
