From the Acting Principal

Dear families,
Welcome to Term 4 everyone. I hope all families were able to enjoy the school holidays and spend some quality time with your children in the beautiful Melbourne spring weather. A big congratulations to all the Brisbane Lions supporters on the recent Premiership in an amazing AFL Grand Final.
As we move into a very busy Term 4, I encourage everyone to take advantage of the many events and learning opportunities on offer to ensure the term is a successful one for all at St Mark’s.
2025 Family Fun Day Update – 10 days to go!!
This year our major community event and fundraising focus is our Family Fun Day (Fete) which will be held on Saturday October 25th, 11.00am-4.00pm here at St Mark’s. Our goal is to raise funds to purchase devices to further enhance our learning programs and create a day for all of the St Mark's community to come together.
There is a team of helpers who have been busy with food, stalls and logistical preparations. But, these events can't happen without support from all of our families. You can support by attending, volunteering and joining in the fun on the day! The Family Fun Day was a great success in 2019 and 2023 and this year’s event promises to be even better.
We look forward to this wonderful community event once again and I encourage all families to get involved. Please see the KM@SMAT page of this newsletter for more information on how to purchase a ride pass, sign up to volunteer, buy a raffle ticket or help out with the bake sale. It's only a week and a half away!
Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS) - Thank you to the 45 families who completed the survey this year. This is a record response rate for us! The MACSSIS data benefits everyone within our school and provides valuable community insights on areas that we can focus on. We thank you for taking the opportunity to have a voice and contribute to shaping the ongoing improvement of the school. We expect the survey data to be released to schools in the coming weeks.
School Assemblies in Term 4 - Assemblies in Term 4 will be held each Friday morning at 9.00am in the Hall. All details are included in the Dates to Remember page, including our Advent Liturgies in December. Families are invited and encouraged to attend our weekly assembly to support the children, and engage in the wonderful learning that happens here.

Class Groupings for 2026 - over the next few weeks, we will begin to develop our class groupings for 2026. Please contact Peter in writing at principal@smfawkner.catholic.edu.au with any information for your child's class placement for 2026 that you would like us to be aware of. This information is confidential and is a consideration when we follow our processes to create balanced class groupings to meet the social, academic and behavioural needs of all learners at St Mark's.
We also need to know if any students (other than Gr 6’s) will be leaving St Mark’s at the end of 2025. If your child will not be returning to St Mark’s in 2026 can you please inform Peter in writing as soon as possible.
