From the Principal
Hi everyone,
Welcome back to Term 4! The final term of the year - not sure about everyone else but this year seems to have flown by!
Once again, this will be a busy term - We will have incursions, excursions, swimming, fiesta, carols, graduation and more! The best way to keep up to date will be via Compass so please keep a close eye on the notifications and updates through this portal.
We are so excited to have the Fiesta coming up on the 25th of October. I would like to give a huge shout out to Mrs Crozier and the Fiesta team for their work so far. They have worked diligently, meeting monthly then weekly to organise the event. On the day we will require our whole community to help out - this means all families donating time to set up, pack up or for a shift on a stall during the event. Stalls are allocated to cohorts this time, rather than just individual classes so there are less spots to fill but they need to be filled in order to make the event successful. There will be OGPS staff posted at all stalls so there will be support at all times whilst you are volunteering. Sign up can be done via the QR codes contained on the Fiesta page of this newsletter.
I would like to welcome all our new families to the OGPS community as we begin to embark on our 2026 transition sessions, with our first Foundation 2026 transition session this Friday. We are also beginning to think about our 2026 classes, which might sound early but we take time and effort to make sure these are as balanced as can be in many different ways. Our first school transition date is the 28th of November, so we need to start early to have classes hopefully in place for this session. We do accept parent requests - as long as they are on educational grounds. These requests are overseen by the principal team rather than classroom teachers, as this allows us to ensure all requests are received and treated fairly and equitably. Please forward all requests to the principal team - either directly or via the school email on orchard.grove.ps@education.vic.gov.au. Email or written requests are accepted with a cut off date for requests being the 10th of November 2026.
Additionally, as we begin to prepare 2026 classes, if your child/ren will not attending OGPS next year can you please let the office know at orchard.grove.ps@education.vic.gov.au as soon as possible.
