Wellbeing & Inclusion

Welcome to Term 4!

Hi everyone,

We hope you had a relaxing and fun holiday break! It’s hard to believe we’re already in Term 4, the final chapter of a big, busy, and exciting 2025. There’s so much to look forward to as we wrap up the year together.

Mental Health Month – October 💚

October is Mental Health Month. A time to shine a light on the importance of looking after our minds and hearts, just like we do our bodies. At school, we’ll be focusing on simple, everyday ways to support mental wellbeing, including:

  • Practising mindfulness and gratitude
  • Talking about our feelings and checking in with each other
  • Using calming strategies like breathing, movement, and quiet spaces
  • Celebrating strengths and building each other up with kind words
  • Encouraging help-seeking and reminding students it’s okay to ask for support

You can support this at home by having open conversations about emotions, modelling self-care, and reminding your child that their feelings matter. Together, we can help every child feel safe, seen, and supported.

What’s Coming Up?

This term is all about:

  • Keeping the learning going strong
  • Enjoying excursions and special events
  • Welcoming our new Foundation 2026 students
  • Celebrating our amazing Year 6 students as they prepare for their next adventure
  • Starting to plan and prepare for 2026!

Let’s make it a term full of memories, growth, and joy.

SunSmart Every Day

As the warmer weather arrives, let’s help our children stay safe, comfortable, and focused at school by:

  • Making sure they have their school hat packed and ready each day
  • Applying sunscreen before school (and sending some along if needed)
  • Packing a full water bottle to keep them hydrated throughout the day
  • Including healthy snacks and a nutritious lunch to fuel their learning

Thanks for helping us keep wellbeing front and centre this term!

Our School Values

This term, we’re revisiting the values that make our school such a special place:

  • Respect – for each other, our staff, and our environment
  • Responsibility – making good choices and owning our actions
  • Resilience – bouncing back when things get tricky
  • Kindness – in words, actions, and attitude

We’d love your support in chatting with your children about these values at home, what they look like, sound like, and feel like in everyday life.

St Mary's is proud to support Australia’s largest child safety education and awareness event — Day for Daniel, hosted by the @DanielMorcombeFoundation.

On 31 October, schools and communities across the country will come together to have important conversations about child safety and keeping kids safe.

Students are encouraged to wear red on the day to show their support.
