Year 5/6 - Newsletter

Year 5/6 Newsletter- Week 7, Term 3
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are now well into Term 3, and the students are making fantastic progress across all areas of their learning. Here is a snapshot of what we’ve been working on and some important reminders for the weeks ahead.
Literacy
In literacy, students are completing their information reports on the First Fleet and the transportation of convicts to Australia. Alongside the reading of knowledge-rich texts, our students have done a great job composing information texts on this topic.
Mathematics
This week in maths, we have been modelling and practising division equations with remainders, and worded problems with real-life context. The skills of using division for finding the average came in handy when we ventured out to challenge our own skills in running, push-ups and free shots.
Inquiry
Part 1 of Inquiry project presentations have taken place over the last 2 weeks. Our students have proudly presented their liveability comparisons with some amazing visual techniques.
A reminder that Part 2 of the Inquiry project is due in Week 9. Our Country EXPO will take place on Wednesday 17th September. Each student will set up their display in the classroom and will be invited to visit other displays throughout the day
Full instructions and requirements are available on Google Classroom.
Health – Sexual Education Program
In Weeks 7, 8, and 9, students will be participating in the **sexual education program. Following session 1 this week, a short homework task has been sent home with students to find out all about themselves as a baby.

The upcoming sport fixtures for our Year 6 teams are as follows:
