Show and Tell

We have almost completed our ‘Games’ Show and Tell. We have been proud of both the organisation and confidence we have observed in the preparation and delivery of these.

What have we been up to in the classroom?

Maths

In Maths, we have just wrapped up our unit on multiplication and division, exploring how to use repeated addition, repeated subtraction, and arrays to represent these operations. In Week 8, we will begin a unit on length, volume, capacity and mass.

Inquiry

The students' latest design brief was to study the existing Prep - 2 playground, analyse what they liked and what they would like to change/add. They then designed their ‘ideal’ playground. Be sure to ask them about some of the creative things they included (underground play space was a popular inclusion!)

Literacy

We are working on a text based unit using the book ‘Fauna’ to explore the features of Information Reports. We are working towards developing independence to read a text on a chosen Australian animal and take notes to use to write our own information reports. Our excursion to Healesville Sanctuary will allow the students to gather more information about their chosen animal to include when completing their writing.

In Little learners love literacy sessions this week we have been focusing on silent letters including mb, sc, st, gh, rh and wh.

Winter Illness Reminder

Term 3 is often the cold and flu season with coughs and colds moving through the year level. Please keep your children at home if they are feeling unwell to prevent the spread as much as possible.

Have a great week,

The Year 2 Team
