Mamma Mia!

Congratulations to the students and staff involved in Cranbourne East Secondary College's production of Mamma Mia!

Students performed 5 shows over the week to over 800 audience members. The community was blown away by the talent and professionalism demonstrated by the students at CESC on and off stage.

Students were involved backstage where they worked to build the set, paint and construct props, choreograph dances, direct scenes, manage costumes and design lights; onstage where they acted, sung and danced; and in the orchestra where they worked with professional musicians to perform the music.

On the final evening, the following students were presented with awards for their outstanding achievements during the performance and in the months of rehearsals:

Instrumental Award: VJ Faofua Masina

Vocalist Award: Goal Leek

Dancer Award: Shae-Lee Seemer

Crew Award: Kaia Pobjie

The "Show Must Go On" Award: Kayleigh Calder

Victorian State School Spectacular

On Saturday, 14 September 2025, 16 of our talented students proudly represented our college at the Victorian State Schools Spectacular, held at John Cain Arena. This incredible annual event brings together thousands of students from across Victoria to perform for an audience of more than 10,000 people.

In the lead-up to the performance, our students dedicated themselves to intensive rehearsals, balancing their schoolwork while committing countless hours to perfecting their skills. Six students were part of the Mass Dance Ensemble, delivering dynamic, high-energy routines, while ten students joined the Mass Choir, filling the arena with powerful harmonies and emotion.

We are so proud of their hard work, determination, and professionalism. They were outstanding ambassadors for our school community and a true reflection of the talent and dedication of young performers.

Please keep your eyes peeled for the performance which will be played on Channel 7 in November!

4Cs: Cultivating Creative Cultures and Communities

Our talented 4C students showcased their hard work and creativity in a special performance at Bunjil Place. 163 performers worked together to showcase dances from Pasefika, Indian, Afghanistan and Filipino cultures to a sold-out crowd. Months of rehearsals, dedication, and teamwork led to this exciting moment, and we were so proud with what they achieved!

A big thank you to the team of staff that have put in countless hours to help or just filled in for us with supervising a practice or two has been greatly appreciated.

Intermediate Bands Festival

SEVR Intermediate Bands Festival – A Day of Music and Collaboration

On Tuesday, 17 September 2025, a group of our dedicated music students proudly represented our college at the South Eastern Victorian Region (SEVR) Intermediate Bands Festival, hosted at McClelland Secondary College.

This festival brought together students from a range of local schools, including Mentone Girls Secondary College, Koo Wee Rup Secondary College, and Officer Secondary College, creating a vibrant and supportive musical community for the day.

In the lead-up to the event, our students took part in intensive rehearsals, working hard to develop their ensemble skills, refine challenging repertoire, and build confidence as performers. This preparation was essential, as the festival provided a fantastic opportunity to perform alongside other young musicians and to experience the thrill of playing in a combined massed ensemble.

The day concluded with a showcase performance, where students demonstrated the incredible progress they had made. Their hard work, teamwork, and passion for music shone brightly, and they returned to school inspired and motivated to continue their musical journey.

We are incredibly proud of their achievements and thank the staff, families, and participating schools for making this event such a memorable success.

Cranbourne Park - Bands Extravaganza!

Earlier in Term 3, our talented Cranbourne East Secondary College Stage Band had the exciting opportunity to perform at the Cranbourne Park Shopping Centre Bands Extravaganza. This event allowed our students to share their music with the wider community, performing for shoppers and visitors throughout the day.

The band presented an impressive 50-minute set of repertoire, which they had been working tirelessly to prepare in the weeks leading up to the performance. Their hard work and dedication truly paid off, with the audience captivated by the quality of their playing.

The feedback from both the shopping centre management and patrons was overwhelmingly positive, with many community members commenting on the professionalism and talent of our students.

We are incredibly proud of our Stage Band for representing our school so wonderfully and for demonstrating the joy and power of live music. It was a fantastic experience for our students to connect with the local community and showcase the result of their commitment and teamwork.

Note From Mr Jones

It's been a huge term, and I wanted to take to this platform to give a huge shout-out to the instrumental music and broader performing arts teaching team at CESC for stepping up as I moved into my acting AP position.

The team have continued to ensure our music students at CESC have access to an incredible assortment of performance opportunities and I'm grateful to be able to rely so heavily on them.

Looking forward, we are now working toward our End of Year Arts and Tech Festival, Year 12 Valedictory and the final End of Year Awards ceremony. I look forward to seeing our students shine in these spaces as I put my 'head of music' hat back on.

I wish our students a restful break and look forward to a jam-packed term 4!
