Community Engagement and Alumni Community
Information & Events for our Local Community and our CESC Alumni Coordinator
Over the past few weeks, our staff and students have been actively involved in exciting transition and community engagement initiatives with our local primary schools. These events not only build strong connections but also provide authentic opportunities for leadership, creativity, and collaboration.
Lightning Premiership Coaching – Cranbourne East Primary School
Our Year 10 students stepped into leadership roles, supporting Cranbourne East Primary School students in their preparation for Lightning Premiership. Throughout the term, they attended coaching sessions and the event day to support and encourage the students in a variety of sports. It was fantastic to see our students demonstrating teamwork, encouragement, and coaching skills while helping younger students develop confidence and sporting ability. Thank you to Mr Matthews and his team of student coaches from his Health/PE Coaching class as well as all staff who supported these events.
Production Viewing – Wilandra Rise & Cranbourne East Primary School
During Week 6 of this term, Year 6 students from Wilandra Rise and Cranbourne East Primary School were treated to a special viewing of our school production. Beyond the performance on stage, the students gained a behind-the-scenes insight into the many ways they can be involved in the arts at secondary school. They saw how our students performed in the live band, assisted building sets and props, and how they worked as part of the backstage crew. This provided a valuable glimpse into the teamwork, creativity, and dedication that goes into bringing a production to life, inspiring Year 6 students to imagine themselves as part of these opportunities in the future. A big congratulations to all staff that facilitated such an excellent performance for the Primary students to enjoy.
‘Shark Tank’ Presentations – Cranbourne East Primary School
Year 6 students from Cranbourne East Primary showcased their innovative ideas through a series of ‘Shark Tank’ presentations. For the first round of presentations, Ms Danukshi's Year 10 Business & Accounting class visited the Grade 6's to offer their expertise and advice. Their final pitches were presented to our Year 7 Level Leader, Hayden Johnson, and members of the Principal Team. We were thoroughly impressed by the creativity, problem-solving, and confidence shown by these students. Thank you to our staff and the team at Cranbourne East Primary School for supporting this event.
These activities highlight the strong partnerships we continue to build with our feeder schools, ensuring that students feel connected, inspired, and excited about their transition to secondary school. As we move into Term 4, keep your eye on the social media accounts for more events and activities aimed to assist in transition for our Year 7 cohort of 2026.
The Alumni Program is gaining momentum as 2025 progresses, and term 3 has been no exception. On Tuesday 2nd September we welcomed back CESC Alum Daniel Clifford who came and presented at our Year 9 Assembly.
Daniel is a Recruitment Consultant and specialises in resume writing, cover letters, interview preparation and assisting young people with finding sustainable employment. He has recently launched his own company 'The Early Shift' and is passionate about seeing young people succeed.
Daniel provided a fantastic and engaging session for our Year 9 student's in preparation for their mock interviews, giving them practical key takeaways to improve how they apply for and obtain employment. A huge thank you to Daniel for sharing his story and expertise with Cranbourne East Secondary College.
On September 5th, a group of Year 11 and 12 Health students attended an Industry Insight session at the world-leading Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne’s CBD. Alongside students from other state secondary schools, our students heard directly from inspiring public school alumni now working at Peter MacCallum in areas such as research, education and treatment. Professionals in attendance included a Medical Oncologist, Nurse Unit Manager, Project Manager, Art Therapist, Research Grant Officer, Critical Care Nurse and more. The visit concluded with a fascinating tour of Peter MacCallum’s state-of-the-art Radiography facilities and architecture, which left a lasting impression on our students.
One student stated: “The industry insight session helped me get a better overview of lifelong careers in general and has given me reassurance about my own path.”
We are grateful for our valued Alumni partnership with Ourschool, making experiences like this possible, and providing our students direct access to professionals who shared valuable advice about careers in the healthcare sector.
Looking forward to many more opportunities next term and into 2026.
