This week, our class has been having a blast diving into stories and characters! The students have been busy creating colourful storyboards to help them retell our current text Three by Stephen Michael King. They’ve loved drawing their own pictures to bring the story to life, making each storyboard a little work of art. It’s been fantastic to see their creativity shine as they organise their ideas and share their unique versions of the stories.
We’ve also been practising our public speaking skills by having each student present their story recounts to the class. It’s been so exciting to watch everyone gain confidence as they share their stories aloud, and they’ve been great at giving friendly feedback to their classmates. This fun and supportive environment is helping our young storytellers become confident speakers and great listeners.
Over the last couple of days, our class has been learning multiplication and division in a fun and hands-on way by building “array cities”! Students use blocks and drawings to create cityscapes where each building shows an array—rows and columns that help us see how numbers multiply and divide. Through this activity, students are able to visualise maths problems and understand how multiplication and division work, all while designing their own colourful city scenes.
