Prep to Grade 2 Swimming

Next week our Prep, Grade 1, and Grade 2 students will be participating in our Swimming Program at Gurri Wanyarra Wellbeing Centre

Please ensure consent forms are completed by this Friday 14th November.

Swimming is a vital part of ourPhysical Education program, helping students build water confidence, develop safety and survival skills, and refine their swimming techniques. The program aims to:

  • Develop awareness of potential dangers in and around water.
  • Teach a range of safety and survival skills.
  • Provide opportunities for children to continue aquatic activities for fun, fitness, or competition.
  • Refine both competitive and survival strokes.

Each swimming session will run for 45 minutes, and students will travel to and from the pool by bus. Thanks to funding received for this year’s program, there will be no cost to families.

Session Times:

  • Group 1: P/1 Tomlinson & P/1 Lowndes – 11:45am–12:30pm
  • Group 2: P/1 O’Grady & P/1 Powell – 12:30pm–1:15pm
  • Group 3: Grade 2 Hendy & Grade 2 Amraoui – 1:15pm–2:00pm

Students will need to bring:

  • Bathers and a towel in a sturdy, clearly named bag (no plastic bags, please).
  • A separate bag for wet items.
  • Thongs or sandals for walking to and from the pool (regular school shoes for the rest of the day).

On one of the program days, students will also need to bring a long-sleeved top and long pants for a special swim safety session—details to follow closer to the date.

We look forward to a fun and educational week in the pool!

Kind regards,
