Principal's Message

Hi everyone,
I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend, even if the weather did its best to spoil things on Monday! Hopefully, you also managed to pick a winner in the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday!
It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through the term and that Christmas is just around the corner. There’s so much happening at school over the next five and a half weeks — from special events to end-of-year celebrations — so strap yourselves in, it’s going to be a busy and exciting finish to the year!
Curriculum contribution
Curriculum contribution letters will be going home tonight with the youngest in each family. These contributions play a huge role in supporting our school and enhancing learning opportunities for all students. The funds collected go directly towards classroom resources, learning materials, specialist supplies, digital tools, and hands-on experiences that enrich our programs and help us deliver the best possible education for our students. Please keep an eye out for this letter which will detail our book collection days.
Parent Requests for 2026 Classes
Over the coming weeks, teachers will begin the careful process of creating class groups for 2026. Each child’s academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs are considered to ensure balanced and positive classes. Students can nominate four friends, with at least one guaranteed placement.
Parent requests are considered for special circumstances that outline educational reasons supporting a child’s learning and wellbeing. Please do not send requests directly to teachers.
Please be aware that a parent request may override a child’s friendship preference. Requests should be made only for significant reasons requiring leadership consideration.
If you wish to make a request for 2026, please email mooroolbark.east.ps@education.vic.gov.au by November 14th, 2026 and attention it to Matt Tyndall.
We appreciate your understanding and trust in our staff during this important process.
Colour run
What a fantastic day this was! Mooroolbark even turned on some beautiful weather for us. The atmosphere was full of colour, laughter, and community spirit as students, staff, and families joined in the fun.
A huge thank you to Jackie Boniface and her amazing team for organising such a successful event, and to all parents and students who helped make the day such a great success. Your support and enthusiasm are what make days like this possible.
The students are already counting down the days till the next one!
Basketball court
Our new basketball court is coming along really well! Weather permitting, it should be finished within a week. A big thank you to everyone for your flexibility and patience during this time, especially with the restricted access on the senior side. Be sure to pop over and check out the progress next time you’re around!
2026
As we begin planning for next year’s classes and staffing, it’s really helpful for us to know if any families will be moving or not returning to MEPS in 2026. If your child will not be attending MEPS next year, please let the office know as soon as possible. This information helps us plan our classes, resources, and staffing to best support all students in the new year.
Thank you for your help with this important part of our planning process!
Regards,
Brant Kennedy
Assistant Principal
