Preparing for Senior School

As students complete their Year 10 studies, we are beginning to prepare them for the challenges of VCE, VCE-VM and VPC. Over the coming weeks, Year 10 teachers will be working with students to emphasise the importance of consistent study habits and timely task completion. Expectations will be raised to help students understand what will be required of them in the senior years.

We encourage parents and guardians to continue supporting students at home by promoting healthy study routines, checking in on their progress and wellbeing, and reaching out to teachers if any concerns arise. This collaborative approach will help ensure students are well-equipped for the increased demands of VCE, VCE-VM and VPC.

Social Media Ban

From 10 December, changes to how students can use social media will come into effect. These changes may have a significant impact, and it’s important that we, as a school community, are well informed and prepared.

Quick facts

The age restrictions are likely to apply to Facebook, Instagram, Kick, Reddit, Snapchat, Threads, TikTok, X and YouTube, as well as other platforms. See the latest list.
Under-16s will still be able to see publicly available social media content that doesn’t require logging into an account.
There are exclusions for a number of platforms, including educational tools such as learning management systems. For example, Google Classroom and YouTube Kids will not be age restricted, and YouTube videos that can be seen without logging in can still be shared by teachers.
