A disrupted week for students, but a good use of time for staff.
This week was very short for our students, with the staff having a Professional Learning day on Monday and then the Cup Day Public Holiday on Tuesday, with students returning to school on Wednesday.
The staff came together on Monday, with 3 very different sessions across the day. The morning session continued with our work on Tracey Ezards’s ‘The Buzz’ where staff took our already determined Minimum Viable Practices, or MVPs, and continued to build collective efficacy. We discussed expectations around our MVPs; we explored what it would look like if someone needed to tell another they were not meeting our MVPs, and ways to respond to the feedback. Our collective efficacy is strengthened when everyone has a part to play in this work, so that we are all working together to improve what we do.
The middle session provided time for staff to look to 2026 and the new Victorian Curriculum 2.0 and the afternoon session was focused on School Wide Positive Behaviour Supports (SWPBS) and recording adjustments for students with learning needs.
Monday was a busy, fast paced day, but the staff valued the time to do this important work. Thank you to the families that had to adjust their work for child minding, so that we could have this worthwhile time together.
Upcoming student free day - the last one for the year.
Just a reminder that Friday 5th December is the final designated Student Free Day this year. This is a whole school Professional Practice Day (PP Day) for teachers, where they are given time (from the 2022 VGSA) to be able to focus on 7 different areas of their teaching practice. At this time of the year, teachers often choose to use the time for assessment and reporting or planning.
