Building Respectful Citizens at Eglinton: Circles Support Positive Behaviour
At Eglinton Public School, we are committed to developing not just strong learners, but responsible and respectful citizens. One of the key ways we do this is through the use of “Circles” in our classrooms and playgrounds.
Circles are a simple but powerful tool. When students and staff sit together in a circle, everyone is on equal footing—there is no “front of the room” or hierarchy. This encourages open communication, active listening, and genuine respect for each person’s voice. Circles help students connect, reflect, and problem-solve as a group.
A particular focus at Eglinton is our use of preparation circles and the P3P3F3 approach. Preparation circles are used proactively—before challenges arise. In these circles, students talk about expectations, values, and how they want to treat each other. This sets a positive tone and helps prevent issues before they start.
When conflict or misunderstandings do happen, our staff use the P3P3F3 process to guide restorative conversations. This stands for Past, Present, and Future—three simple steps that help students reflect on what happened, how it affected others, and what they can do to make things right. The process is structured, but also supportive, and encourages students to take responsibility for their actions.
All staff at Eglinton use consistent “stored responses” when talking with students about behaviour. This means students hear the same clear, calm messages about positive interactions, no matter which adult they’re speaking with. Over time, this builds a strong, predictable culture where respect and responsibility are the norm.
By making circles and restorative conversations part of daily life, we are helping our students learn the skills they need to solve problems, build relationships, and thrive—both at school and beyond.
World Teachers' Day:
Tomorrow we celebrate World Teachers' Day. I would like to acknowledge all the support the teachers at Eglinton provide to students everyday. World Teachers' Day celebrates quality teaching and inspirational teachers in every school and at Eglinton we have some of the best. Please join with me tomorrow and thank a teacher in our school for doing their very best everyday to support your children.

Spooky Social:
A huge thank you to all the staff who organised and supervised the Spooky School Social last night. It was fabulous to see so many students attending and having fun with their friends and awesome costumes.

School Community Charter - Please read the attached document outlining the School Community Charter.
At Eglinton we strive to ensure that all teachers, students, parents and community members treat each other with dignity and respect. This is inclusive of drop off and pick up times. The school is committed to building a positive school culture where student, staff and parent wellbeing is a priority. I appreciate your support.
