Over the last fortnight the Year 6s have been exploring number patterns and how they work. Students have been identifying and describing different types of patterns using operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. They’ve also enjoyed creating their own sequences and explaining the rules behind them. It’s been great to see everyone using their problem-solving skills and logical thinking to recognise how patterns can be found all around us!
In Writing, students have been learning how to plan and create engaging information reports. They’ve explored how to organise facts into clear sections, use technical language, and include interesting details to inform their readers. We’ve looked closely at examples of well-written reports and discussed what makes them effective.
Year 6 students took part in the Interrelate sessions this week. These sessions help students learn about growing up, relationships, and the changes that happen during adolescence in a safe and age-appropriate way.
After the sessions, students will have a short homework task to complete with their parents or carers. This is a great chance to talk together about what they have learned.
The Year 6 students enjoyed an informative and engaging sustainability incursion provided by Whitehorse Council. The incursion taught students about the impacts of fossil fuels and how we can plan for a cleaner future by using renewable energy. The students had the opportunity to explore the effects of pollution on the planet by role playing different scenarios and then were given time to play with toys that were powered by a variety of different types of renewable energies, such as solar and wind.
