Student Achievements

Congratulations to the following students:

Hal Cormack (Year 11), who has been accepted into the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery Summer Art School, a four-day program designed to help young artists develop their contemporary art interests through workshops led by professional curators and artists. This exciting opportunity allows participants to explore new techniques, collaborate with peers and experience life inside one of Tasmania's most significant cultural institutions.

Phoebe Wiss, Gracie Pelham, Grace Willis and Maddy Johnston (Year 11), who were invited to perform with the Jenina's Dance Workshop 16&U ensemble at the opening of the recent Association of Eisteddfod Societies of Australia conference in Hobart. This prestigious invitation followed the group's outstanding achievement of winning first place in the 16&U kick routine at the Eisteddfod earlier this year.

Madeleine Marr (Year 10), who has been selected for the highly competitive National Gallery of Australia (NGA) Scholarship. Madeleine earned her place by submitting a powerful artwork and accompanying statement that explores the interaction between First Nations people of today and the ancestral spirits of the past through the Dreaming. She is one of only 16 students nationwide – and just two from each state – to receive this honour. The scholarship runs for 12 months, including online components and a week-long residency at the NGA in Kamberri/Canberra, where participants will work closely with artists and mentors to develop their creative practice.

Mia Styles (Year 8), who has been selected for the Water Polo Australia U16 Girls Development Squad following her impressive performance at the recent 2025 National State Championships held in Canberra. As one of only two athletes from her age group chosen from Tasmania, she will participate in various training camps over the next eight months. A final team will be selected from these squads to represent Australia at the international competition in Puerto Rico.
