From the Director of Teaching and Learning K–12
Mrs Ali Canning

As I step into the role of Director of Teaching and Learning (K–12), I’m genuinely excited to branch out beyond the comforts of my beloved Junior School and have the opportunity to work with Senior School staff and students more regularly. I look forward to continuing to be a part of a very special community that values curiosity, growth and the pursuit of excellence in learning.
At this stage of the year, the College is alive with a sense of focused energy. From our younger students completing programs, preparing for leadership opportunities in 2026 and starting to think about farewelling the Junior School, to our senior students who are finalising major projects, preparing for exams and bringing their secondary journey to a close. Teachers are deeply engaged in assessment, moderation and the preparation of end-of-year reports. It is a busy but rewarding season, and one that reflects the dedication and resilience of our learners and educators alike.
Amid this busyness, it’s also important to pause and acknowledge the incredible work that happens daily in our classrooms. Teachers continue to design rich learning experiences that stretch thinking, build confidence and nurture creativity. Students, in turn, are showing independence, perseverance and joy in their learning. At this point in the year, teachers are often reflecting on just how far their students have come. These moments of growth, whether large or small, are what make our school community so special.
Looking ahead, I’m eager to work alongside staff to continue strengthening teaching and learning across all year levels. Our shared focus will be on fostering deep engagement, supporting each learner’s growth and building coherence in learning pathways from Kindergarten through to Year 12. Together, we will explore evidence-informed practices that empower both teachers and students to reach their potential.
As we approach the end of the year, I encourage everyone to take time to reflect on progress, celebrate achievements and, when we make it to the end, rest well in preparation for the opportunities ahead. I look forward to connecting with many of you in the time ahead as we continue to shape a culture of learning that inspires every student to thrive.
