The World Cup Countdown is On

The countdown is nearly over. There is just one week to go until the very first Bilingual Soccer World Cup kicks off.

Next Friday 7th November, from 9:30am to 2:00pm, 9 bilingual schools from across Victoria will gather at the Darebin International Sports Centre for a huge celebration of sport, language and culture.

Our Newlands teams have been confirmed, and they have been working hard. Thank you once again to every student who took part in trials. The passion and teamwork you showed were incredible.

A massive thank you to all the parents who have already volunteered for the day. Your support means everything. We are still welcoming more helpers. Supervision, scoring, cheering… every role matters and every voice will lift our players higher. If you are able to join us, please contact me via Sentral.

This tournament is all about connection and community. Schools will proudly represent their languages, fans will chant in multiple languages, and students will form friendships while competing with respect and joy.

We were even featured on SBS Español, highlighting just how special this event will be.

The following bilingual schools will be competing:

Newlands Primary School – Spanish

Lalor North Primary School – Macedonian/Greek

Camberwell Primary School – French

Abbotsford Primary School – Chinese

Richmond West Primary School – Chinese

Bayswater South Primary School – German

Brunswick South Primary School – Italian

Footscray Primary School – Italian

Huntingdale Primary School – Japanese

This is going to be a day full of colour, teamwork and unforgettable memories.

Get ready to cheer, sing and celebrate.
