Fuel for Learning
We’ve recently noticed an increasing number of students coming to school without breakfast or with only snacks such as chips or biscuits for lunch. While these foods can be an occasional treat, they don’t provide the energy or nutrition students need to focus, learn, and participate fully throughout the day.
Breakfast is an important start to the morning. It helps students concentrate, improves memory and mood, and supports better learning outcomes. Similarly, a balanced lunch helps them maintain energy levels for the afternoon.
If mornings are rushed, even something simple like a piece of fruit, yogurt, toast, or cereal can make a big difference. For lunch, including a sandwich, wrap, or leftovers from dinner can be a great addition to the lunch box.
We understand that busy routines and rising costs can make meal preparation challenging. If your family is experiencing difficulties providing regular meals, please get in touch with the school. We can help connect you with local support services or programs that can assist.
Together, we can make sure every student has the fuel they need to learn, grow, and thrive at school.
A Good Night’s Sleep Helps Learning
Some students are coming to school very tired because they’re not getting enough sleep. When children stay up late or use phones and devices before bed, it’s harder for them to focus and learn the next day.
Most school-aged children need 8–10 hours of sleep each night. Try turning off devices 30 minutes before bed and keeping a regular bedtime.
A good night’s sleep helps kids feel happy, ready to learn, and do their best at school.
Year 12 The Final Stretch
Our Year 12 students are in the middle of their HSC exams and are almost at the end of their school journey. This is an exciting and emotional time as they finish their final assessments and prepare to take their next steps beyond school.
We’re proud of their effort, focus, and resilience throughout the year, and wish them every success in their future endeavours beyond Boorowa Central School.
