Melba

House

Another fantastic year in Melba House has passed. We’ve had a year full of challenges but as always Melba students have persisted and ended up on top! Melba has had a successful year across various domains, showcasing talent, dedication, and teamwork. Melba celebrated wins in House Performing Arts and the Athletics Carnival and thanks to the amazing effort of the students we had the honour of collecting the House Shield for 2023!

We would like to thank Jade Maea for her work as House Captain this year and wish her all the best with her future endeavours.

We’re thrilled to welcome Jack Stewartto the 2024 Melba House Captain position. Jack has already started working hard in Melba by assisting with our year 7 orientation day and the organisation of a fun final house assembly.

We end 2023 by saying farewell to some incredible staff members. After three fantastic years at BHS Anne Hoang is moving on to her next adventure. Anne’s generosity and kindness will be greatly missed by both staff and students alike. We must also say goodbye to Wei Wei, who is moving on to new opportunities at a new school in 2024. Students and staff in English and Melba are going to miss her very much but know how lucky her new students will be to have her. Hollows House is extremely lucky in gaining Alan Clarke as their third Assistant House Leader for 2024. We want to thank Alan for his hard work and dedication within Melba for the past 7 years!

Thank you to Merric Butler and Madeleine Weatherley for stepping into different roles within the Melba House Leadership Team this term! Adrian Ferres is moving over to Dunlop in the Senior School Leader position, and we want to thank him for his incredible work as Melba House Leader over the past few years. We also want to welcome Siobhan Dwyer into the role for 2024 and are excited to work with her next year!

Our year 12s had a wonderful send off during their final days of school and we’re so proud to celebrate their achievements. We wish them all the best for their next adventure! Our year 7s and 8s enjoyed a change of pace with the Travel and Carnival curriculum rounding off the year, as did the year 9s who ventured to Gumbuya World to celebrate their 2023. We were excited to see our 10s and 11s ‘Step Up’ into VCE and VM classes to finish off their year and wish all students a wonderful holiday.
