Year 2 News

From Kaajal, Year 2 teacher

Numeracy

Our Mathematical marvels have recently delved into the fascinating world of measurement, with a focus on volume, capacity, mass and hefting. From measuring liquids to exploring the space they occupy, the students have been hands-on with engaging activities that have made learning about volume a fun and exciting experience. Students were also tasked with estimating the weight of various items by hefting them alongside 100g, 200g, 500g, & 1kg weights and then using kitchen scales to to check the actual weight. Some of the items included MAB, iPads, sellotape dispenser and more!

Literacy

We have been exploring antonyms and synonyms, drawing inspiration from the beloved Mr. Men and Little Miss books. The imaginative world of these characters has provided a creative backdrop for understanding these language concepts. The students have been expanding their vocabulary while having a blast with the characters of Mr. Happy, Little Miss Sunshine, and many more. The students have been super excited to create their own characters. They have shown so much excitement and the teachers have all been very impressed with their imagination and enthusiasm!

Sports Day

Our Junior Sport’s Day last week was a huge success and students and teachers alike had so much fun! It was fantastic to see so many students dressed up in their house colours, being team players and displaying the school values. Events included egg & spoon, fill the bucket, chicken relay, tug of war, ten-pin bowling AND Zooper Doopers to end the fun morning! A massive thank you to Kim for organising, Kale, Tom and our parent volunteers for helping out on the day. It wouldn’t have been possible without you!
